Worship:  You Are My All in All; Take My Life (And Let It Be), Chris Tomlin
[Lyrics]
"You
Are My All In All"
You
are my strength when I am weak
You
are the treasure that I seek
You
are my all in all
Seeking
You as a precious jewel
Lord,
to give up I'd be a fool
You
are my all in all
Taking
my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising
again I bless Your name
You
are my all in all
When I
fall down You pick me up
When I
am dry You fill my cup
You
are my all in all
Jesus,
Lamb of God
Worthy
is Your name
Jesus,
Lamb of God
Worthy
is Your name
Take My Life (And Let It Be)
Take my life and let it be
consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee
Take my voice and let me sing
always, only for my King
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee
Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use every power as You choose
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from Thee
Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use every power as You choose
Here am I, all of me, take my
life, it's all for Thee
Take my will and make it
Thine, it shall be no longer mine
Take my heart, it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne
Take my love, my Lord I pour at Your feet, it's treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee
Take my heart, it is Thine own, it shall be Thy royal throne
Take my love, my Lord I pour at Your feet, it's treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee
Here am I, all of me, take my
life, it's all for Thee
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
(Take my life, Lord, take my life, take all of me)
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
(Take my life, Lord, take my life, take all of me)
Here am I, all of me, take my life, it's all for Thee
Personal: Enjoyed having my mother
over for dinner tonight. Praise the Lord for today, it has been a blessed
day, but all too short. As the song says: Here am I, all of me, take my
life, it's all for Thee! Amen!
WORD: No time today. I have to rush to work now.

Personal: No time for much of anything. Spent the day
getting my dryer to work
Word:
Now the psalmist cries out for deliverance with two words, “deliver” and “rescue”. He lists
four things to be saved from – sword, dogs, lions, and wild oxen. The word sword has been added. The other words, we have seen already, but in reverse order. Reading
the commentaries, some try to identify these words with certain people groups.
The sword, it is said, refers to the Romans soldiers. It also calls them dogs – what many
Jews called the Gentiles. The lion is either Satan or the Jews. The wild oxen are the
Jews. One commentator even identifies the horns with the piercing of the nails.
I don’t know if we need to get into that much speculation.
The main thing and
the plain thing is that David and our Lord are turning to the faithful and
covenant keeping LORD (Yahweh) for strength and deliverance. The NIV margin
note says the last phrase can be translated “from the horns of the wild oxen
you have heard me”. Many commentators take it that way and say that this is
the dividing point of the Psalm were God answers and delivers.
I don’t know
of a better way to end this segment of the psalm than with the words from
Matthew Henry which have been distilled in Matthew
Henry’s Concise Commentary of the Bible:
Verses 11-21 In these verses we have Christ suffering and Christ praying; by which we are directed to look for crosses, and to look up to God under them. The very manner of Christ's death is described, though not in use among the Jews. They pierced his hands and his feet, which were nailed to the accursed tree, and his whole body was left so to hang as to suffer the most severe pain and torture. His natural force failed, being wasted by the fire of Divine wrath preying upon his spirits. Who then can stand before God's anger? Or who knows the power of it? The life of the sinner was forfeited, and the life of the Sacrifice must be the ransom for it. Our Lord Jesus was stripped when he was crucified, that he might clothe us with the robe of his righteousness. Thus it was written, therefore thus it behooved Christ to suffer. Let all this confirm our faith in him as the true Messiah, and excite our love to him as the best of friends, who loved us, and suffered all this for us. Christ in his agony prayed, prayed earnestly, prayed that the cup might pass from him. When we cannot rejoice in God as our song, yet let us stay ourselves upon him as our strength; and take the comfort of spiritual supports, when we cannot have spiritual delights. He prays to be delivered from the Divine wrath. He that has delivered, doth deliver, and will do so. We should think upon the sufferings and resurrection of Christ, till we feel in our souls the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings.
