Worship: Carried to the Table by LEELAND
“Carried To The Table”
Wounded and forsaken
I was shattered by the fall
Broken and forgotten
Feeling lost and all alone
Summoned by the King
Into the Master’s courts
Lifted by the Savior
And cradled in His arms
I was carried to the table
Seated where I don’t belong
Carried to the table
Swept away by His love
And I don’t see my brokenness anymore
When I’m seated at the table of the Lord
I’m carried to the table
The table of the Lord
Fighting thoughts of fear
And wondering why He called my name
Am I good enough to share this cup
This world has left me lame
Even in my weakness
The Savior called my name
In His Holy presence
I’m healed and unashamed
You carried me, my God
You carried me
I was shattered by the fall
Broken and forgotten
Feeling lost and all alone
Summoned by the King
Into the Master’s courts
Lifted by the Savior
And cradled in His arms
I was carried to the table
Seated where I don’t belong
Carried to the table
Swept away by His love
And I don’t see my brokenness anymore
When I’m seated at the table of the Lord
I’m carried to the table
The table of the Lord
Fighting thoughts of fear
And wondering why He called my name
Am I good enough to share this cup
This world has left me lame
Even in my weakness
The Savior called my name
In His Holy presence
I’m healed and unashamed
You carried me, my God
You carried me

This year has passed by fast. Christmas is the theme already in the stores. Movies are already playing on TV. The sky grows darker earlier as the days become shorter.  There is a chill in the air at night. Depression and Hope are mixed as the Joy of Christmas lighten the heart of children with anticipation and sadness and feelings of loneliness cloud the hearts of those who have recently lost a loved one through death or separation. For me, this season has always blown by too fast. I have been too busy working and have not taken the time to savor the season. Thanksgiving approaches and is an all but forgotten holiday except to enjoy a football game on TV and to kick off the Christmas buying frenzy. The feeling of loneliness could cloud my heart this season, but it is my desire to slow down and face it in all its glory. To gather with family and give thanks for the many blessing God has given and to celebrate the coming of our Savior again. To behold with wonder the incarnation of the eternal Son and to share this wonder with others. To go beyond the tinsel and the tape and see the glory in the season:
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 NIV
WORD:

Ps 23:5-6 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. NIV |
Ps 23:5-6 5 Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. KJV |
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Who are my enemies, which seek to separate me from the Lord? To rob me of His LOVE and steal my faith. I must confess that what I am about to say is not something that came from my own meditation, it is rather something I read somewhere, but can’t find it at the moment. Our enemies are found in the latter part of Romans 8 where Paul mentions, troubles, hardships, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword. These are all circumstances we find ourselves in. He goes on to mention death, life, angels (if they could but they won’t), demons (who would if they could, but they can’t), the present, the future, any powers, height, depth, anything, all creation. And the good news about the enemies who look on as I sit at the table God has prepared is that NONE of them can harm me. Nothing can rob me of His LOVE or steal my Faith:
Rom 8:28-39
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died — more than that, who was raised to life — is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
