When you read this you will see that I got a late start or was very tired. I had no time for thoughts on the Word. That is my dilemma today. I took too much time shopping and cooking and yes wasting a few minutes in watching TV too. I have just enough time to share this journal entry and pause for 15 minutes to rest before I get ready to go to work. I look forward to the day when all my chasing things and wasting time will cease and I will rest and worship in the presence of the Lord of true life and the Prince of peace!

Worship Let Everything Else Go by Phil Keaggy
Chasing down hot air balloons on Sunday morning,
In pace with a familiar tune
I reach for nothing less, but something more.
All the day, and the wind is at my back most of the way.
In pace with a familiar tune
I reach for nothing less, but something more.
All the day, and the wind is at my back most of the way.
Holding conversation with a friend I know is near,
Great anticipation fills my soul,
It fills my heart, it fills the air.
All the day, and the wind is at my back
Great anticipation fills my soul,
It fills my heart, it fills the air.
All the day, and the wind is at my back
Oh I can’t wait to see you Jesus, face to face,
Nothing in this world can take Your place.
All the pride of man laid low,
And all his works of gold,
Nothing can compare with what You are,
Let everything else go.
Nothing in this world can take Your place.
All the pride of man laid low,
And all his works of gold,
Nothing can compare with what You are,
Let everything else go.
Let it go.
And the wind is at my back
Oh I can’t wait to see you Jesus, face to face,
Nothing in this world can take Your place.
All the pride of man laid low,
And all his works of gold,
Nothing can compare with what You are,
Let everything else go.
Nothing in this world can take Your place.
All the pride of man laid low,
And all his works of gold,
Nothing can compare with what You are,
Let everything else go.
Let it go
Let everything else go
Witness:
As I was power washing last night at work, a blustery wind was blowing the mist from my spray. The wind was coming from the south and I was spraying towards the north. I thought praise God the wind is at my back and I thanked Him for it. My thoughts wandered and I thought of the old Irish blessing:
|
An Old Irish Blessing |
|
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. |
Then my thoughts arrived at this song as it began to play in my mind. Phil Keaggy wrote concerning the inspiration for this song:
While riding my bicycle early one Sunday morning before Church I saw these hot-air balloons ascending into the horizon. It was my aim to catch up to them and get a closer look. I didn’t succeed as they were already up and away. I had this tune in my head as I pedaled my ten-speed and returned home to write what became one of my most requested songs. The ultimate statement here is the fact that someday our hope in seeing Jesus will be a reality. Nothing we achieve or give in this life can compare with the great moment in which we will lay everything at His feet in honor and worship.
What a glorious day that will be. Yet, can we not in some way have that same attitude in this life in anticipation of that day? Think of how much less we would spend in time and effort and money on the things of this world and how much more we could devote on the things of God?
WORD:

Ps 23:5-6 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. NIV |
Ps 23:5-6 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. KJV |
