Worship: Close
"Close"
In the arms of the Father
There is love like no other
He who formed all things
Offers love to me
Where You go we will follow
Through the dark, through the narrow
And in all we do
We are bound to You
There is love like no other
He who formed all things
Offers love to me
Where You go we will follow
Through the dark, through the narrow
And in all we do
We are bound to You
[Chorus:]
I wanna be close to You
I wanna be close to You
There's nothing in this world
That compares to all You are
We are found in Your presence
Seeking You in Your fullness
Give us eyes to see
You are all we need
[Chorus:]
[x2]
My sole devotion
My only focus
To worship You
My life surrendered
My heart abandoned
For more of You
[x2]
[Chorus:]
I wanna be close to You
I wanna be close to You
There's nothing in this world
That compares to all You are
We are found in Your presence
Seeking You in Your fullness
Give us eyes to see
You are all we need
[Chorus:]
[x2]
My sole devotion
My only focus
To worship You
My life surrendered
My heart abandoned
For more of You
[x2]
[Chorus:]
My sole devotion
My only focus
To worship You
My life surrendered
My heart abandoned
For more of You

"Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)"
One day when Heaven was filled with His praises

One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the
light shined among us
His glory revealed
[Chorus:]
Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried
His glory revealed
[Chorus:]
Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried
my sins far away
Rising, He justified
Rising, He justified
freely forever
One day He's coming
Oh glorious day,
One day He's coming
Oh glorious day,
oh glorious day
One day they led Him up Calvary's mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations,
One day they led Him up Calvary's mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations,
stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me
[Chorus]
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He's ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him,
And took the nails for me
[Chorus]
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He's ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him,
the grave could not keep Him
From rising again
[Chorus]
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine
[Chorus]
Glorious day, Oh, Glorious day
From rising again
[Chorus]
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine
[Chorus]
Glorious day, Oh, Glorious day

Witness:
It’s been a rather distracting day. It’s 8:17 pm now as I write this. I like to start at 7 pm so I can think, research and meditate on what I want to sing and say. As I sang tonight my mind kept veering off to other thoughts – my dad’s birthday today who passed away over a year ago, my mom who broke her knee cap today, my younger daughter’s woes with her husband and my need to be in prayer over that. It is so easy to be distracted by the cares of this world. It is one of Satan’s strategy to keep us from focusing on pure worship with God the King of Glory. Then when we are distracted, to make us feel guilty about it. That is what my struggle tonight is, along with a lack of a sense of His presence. The song “Break Every Chain” is playing so I cry out for deliverance from the guilt and sense of aloneness that the enemy is trying to conquer me with. He cannot, he will not prevail, even now my strong and mighty God is vanquishing the enemy of my soul. I cry out with the song playing now:
Holy Spirit, You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord
Your presence, Lord
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord
Your presence, Lord
WORD:
|
    Ps 24:7-10 NIV
7 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
          The LORD strong and mighty,
          the LORD mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
          The LORD Almighty —
he is the King of glory.

Ps 24:7-10
7 Open up, ancient gates!
           Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
8 Who is the King of glory?
            The LORD, strong and mighty;
            the LORD, invincible in battle.
9 Open up, ancient gates!
           Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
10 Who is the King of glory?
        The LORD of Heaven's Armies—
he is the King of glory.

I.   Who is the King of glory? -  v. 8
     A.   The LORD strong and mighty
     B.   The LORD mighty in Battle
II.   Who is He, this King of glory? – v. 10
     A.  The LORD Almighty or Hosts
     B.     He is the King of Glory
With emphatic clarity and confidence, the answer to the question is sounded forth. Leaving us with no doubt as to the identity of the approaching King of Glory. The identity is somewhat obscured by the way we translate the Hebrew here. The NIV, following the Septuagint (an ancient and important Greek translation of the NT and which was the version often quoted by the Lord and the writers of the NT), translated it as “LORD Almighty”. Most other translations translate it literally, “LORD of hosts”. The NLT translates it, “LORD of Heaven’s Armies”, putting it in capital letters to make sure we know it is a title referring to God alone, but narrowing the possibility of the meaning of the title to one meaning. Who are the “host” referred to here?
Keil & Delitzsch say this:
Psalms 24:7-10
The gates of Zion ask once more, yet now no longer hesitatingly, but in order to hear more in praise of the great King. It is now the enquiry seeking fuller information; and the heaping up of the pronouns (as in Jer 30:21, cf. Ps 46:7 ; Est 7:5) expresses its urgency (quis tandem, ecquisnam). The answer runs, "Jahve Tsebaoth, He is the King of Glory (now making His entry)." tsbaa°owt h° is the proper name of Jahve as King, which had become His customary name in the time of the kings of Israel. tsbaa°owt is a genitive governed by h°; and, while it is otherwise found only in reference to human hosts, in this combination it gains, of itself, the reference to the angels and the stars, which are called tsbaa°aayw in Ps 103:21; 148:2: Jahve's hosts consisting of celestial heroes, Joel 2:11, and of stars standing on the plain of the havens as it were in battle array, Isa 40:26 - a reference for which experiences and utterances like those recorded in Gen 32:2 f., Deut 33:2; Judg 5:20, have prepared the way. It is, therefore, the Ruler commanding innumerable and invincible super-terrestrial powers, who desires admission. The gates are silent and open wide; and Jahve, sitting enthroned above the Cherubim of the sacred Ark, enters into Zion.

Others see even a fuller meaning:
Ver. 10. The closing note is inexpressibly grand. Jehovah of hosts, Lord of men and angels, Lord of the universe, Lord of the worlds, is the King of glory.

Wiersbe says:
David was commanding the whole city to welcome the Lord and give honor to Him. The King of Glory is also "the LORD of Hosts," a title used nearly three hundred times in the Old Testament. "Hosts" means "armies," and this can mean the stars (Isa 40:26), the angels (Ps 103:20-21), the nation of Israel (Ex 12:41), or all believers who belong to the army of Christ (2 Tim 2:3-4; 2 Cor 10:3-6; Eph 6:10 ff).

Therefore, “Almighty” is an appropriate appellation, but here it means more than just that, for it declares the Sovereignty of God over all of creation. We end in awe of the one who made all, is over all –Holy (separate and holy other), is the LORD (the self-existent and covenant keeping God) Almighty (Omnipotent, all powerful, of inexhaustible strength), the only one worthy of our praise!
HE IS THE KING OF GLORY!
SELAH
The song “Show me Your Gory” is playing now. How appropriate to end this Psalm with. Actually, I will end it with two.
I see the cloud
I step in I want to see Your glory like Moses did
Flashes of light, rolls of thunder
I step in I want to see Your glory like Moses did
Flashes of light, rolls of thunder
But I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid
Show me Your glory
Show me Your glory (yes)
Show me Your glory
Show me Your glory
Show me Your glory (yes)
Show me Your glory
Show me Your glory
I'm awed by Your beauty
Lost in Your eyes
I long to walk in Your presence like Jesus did
Your glory surrounds me and I'm overwhelmed
Lost in Your eyes
I long to walk in Your presence like Jesus did
Your glory surrounds me and I'm overwhelmed
But I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid
Show me Your glory
show me Your glory (my God)
Show me Your glory
show me Your glory (yeah)
show me Your glory (my God)
Show me Your glory
show me Your glory (yeah)
I long to look on the face of the One that I love
Long to stay in Your presence; it's where I belong
Long to stay in Your presence; it's where I belong

Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors,
and the King of Glory shall come in!
Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates,
and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors,
and the King of Glory shall come in!
Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of Glory.
and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors,
and the King of Glory shall come in!
“All true glory is concentrated upon the true God, for all other glory is but a passing pageant, the painted pomp of an hour. The ascended Saviour is here declared to be the Head and Crown of the universe, the King of Glory. Our Immanuel is hymned in most sublime strains. Jesus of Nazareth is Jehovah Sabaoth.”
