Worship: You are Worthy of Your Name by Passion
[Verse 1]
Rumors of the Son of Man
Stories of a Savior
Holiness with human hands
Treasure for the traitor
[Verse 2]
No ear had heard, no eye had seen
The image of the Father
Until heaven came to live with me
A rescue like no other
[Chorus]
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
Jesus
[Verse 3]
You did not speak, You made no sound
You died for Your accusers
As Your blood fell to the ground
You redefined my future
[Verse 4]
On the day when You arose
The darkness ran for cover
For the King of kings has claimed His throne
Now until forever
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
Jesus
You're my author, my maker
My ransom, my Savior
My refuge, my hiding place
You're my helper, my healer
My blessed redeemer
My answer, my saving grace
You're my hope in the shadows
My strength in the battle
My anchor for all my days
You stand by my side
And You stood in my place
Jesus, no other name
Jesus, no other name
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name

Witness:
Lord, I yearn for the day when my worship will be pure. When it will be unsullied by distractions, pride, fatigue, and a wandering mind. This is what often happens when I worship. No… this is what always happens when I worship whether in song, prayer, meditation, study or listening to a message. Thoughts of pride creep in – “boy your voice sounds good today” or “oh boy you were off key there.” Pressing matters seek to crowd my mind, weariness tells me to stop and rest from worship. Yet one day all distractions will fade. All pride will be vanquished. Fatigue will disappear when we enter His rest, and our prodigal mind will return home permanently. All this will happen when we, His saints – His chosen ones, enter His gates – the gates of the eternal kingdom, with pure, undefiled, grateful, and unending thanksgiving.
Until then, I will strive imperfectly, yet passionately to focus my thoughts on Him who is my all in all (Ps 27:4; Phil 3:13-14).  Closer some days and not so close on others. Until I kneel before my Lord and Savior and look into that one face, who deigned to die for me and receive me into His blessed presence.
“That one Face, far from vanish, rather grows,
Or decomposes but to recompose,
Become my universe that feels and knows.”
Or decomposes but to recompose,
Become my universe that feels and knows.”
-- Robert Browning

Ps 26:4-8
4 I do not sit with deceitful men,
nor do I consort with hypocrites;
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, O Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.

Ps 26:4-8
4 I do not spend time with liars
or go along with hypocrites.

I come to your altar, O Lord,
7 singing a song of thanksgiving
and telling of all your wonders.

As I read these verses I am reminded of Psalm 1.
David is declaring that he was living the separated life. Paul speaks of this life in 2 Corinthians.
2 Cor 6:14-18
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
"Therefore come out from themand be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."
"I will be a Father to you,and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."
NIV
David uses strong language in verse 5: “hate” or “abhor.” He declares that he has no affinity with the “deceitful,” the “hypocrites,” the “evildoers,” and the “wicked.”  He describes what he abstains from in verses 4 & 5 and what he acclaims in verses 6 & 7. Each verse contains two words that are somehow related to each other. Let us look at each verse to see what these relationships are as well as the verbs that describe David’s action (or lack of action) in relation to these words.
Verse 4:
I do not sit with deceitful men,nor do I consort with hypocrites
NIV (’84) I do not spend time with liarsor go along with hypocrites.NLT I have not sat with vain persons,
neither will I go in with dissemblers.KJV I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites.ESV
Here are two type of people David does not associate with. He says he neither sits with nor consorts with them. The word “sit” as used here does not just refer to the physical act of placing one’s derriere on a chair. Vines says of this word:
yashab OT:3427, "to dwell, sit, abide, inhabit, remain.(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.)
The word carries the idea of taking up residence, abiding with, or as the NLT translates it, “spend time with.” In today’s vernacular, Davis said he “didn’t hang out with these people.” One might object that Jesus hung out with “sinners and tax collectors.’’ That may be so, to a point, but I would like to say that it was not so much that He hung out with them as much as it was that they chose to hang out with Him. Furthermore, His motives for doing so were redemptive in nature. As a general practice, it is not wise to associate habitually with the people mentioned in this verse. It is certainly not right to prefer the company of the ungodly to the godly. I remember John Piper addressing this issue in a message he preached from Psalm 16. Speaking on verse 3 (As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight. NIV) He asked this question, “Why don’t you like the Christians you know?” He then asks two fundamental questions:
1. Do you know any real Christians?2. Why would you, a professing Christian, find more joy in people who find no joy in what
is your primary joy?
Here is a link to an excerpt from the message:http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/why-don-t-you-like-the-christians-you-know
That is all I am going to say on this issue for now. I can see where this study needs to branch out and address several issues. For now, I will get back to the discussion I started.
The second verb in this passage is the word “consort” as translated in the NIV and ESV.
The Oxford Dictionary definition of the word “consort” is:
Habitually associate with (someone), typically with the disapproval of others.‘you chose to consort with the enemy’https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/consort
The Hebrew word used here is bo’. The word literally means:
"to go in, enter, come, go."(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.)
BDB Lexicon says:
go, i.e. walk, associate with (<u!) Ps 26:4(from Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew and English Lexicon, Unabridged, Electronic Database. Copyright © 2002, 2003, 2006 by Biblesoft, Inc. All rights reserved.)
“Consort” then is an apt translation of this word. David uses two images of sitting and walking to picture the action he abstains from. It is a picture of someone who does not have a casual relationship with these people but delights in hanging out with them. Tomorrow I will discuss who these people are in verse 4. Growing tired and I need to get to my prayer time before I turn
