Another long gap in my journal. You see when I began this one. Lord may I not be distracted by the mundane things of this life. may my evenings be sanctified for Your use in prayer, song, and word. Amen

A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the
  temple. Of David.
30 I will exalt you, O Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
2 O Lord my God, I called to you for help
and you healed me.
3 O Lord, you brought me up from the
  grave;b
you spared me from going down into the pit.

  A
psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the Temple.
30 1 I will exalt you, Lord,
  for you rescued me.
You refused to let my
  enemies triumph over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
and you restored my
  health.
3 You brought me up from
  the grave,* O Lord.
You kept me from falling
  into the pit of death.

Ps
  30:1-11
A
Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.
30 I
will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my
  foes to rejoice over me.
2 O
LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3 O
LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive,
that I should not go down to the pit. |
  Joy
  Comes in the Morning
and
have not let my foes rejoice
  over me.
2 O
  Lord my God, Iu cried
  to you for help,
and
  you have healed
  me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; |
I. Personal/Public Purpose

III. Public Exhortation: vs. 4 - 5
IV. Personal Plea: vs. 6 - 10
V. Personal/Public Praise: vs. 11 – 12
II. Personal Praise: 30:1-3
Here in the opening sentences of Psalm 30 is, as it were, an
answer to a prayer David had recorded in Psalm 25.
Ps 25:1-2
1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my
soul;
2 in you I trust, O my God.
Do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over
me.
NIV
It is as if we are looking into David’s prayer journal. On
one side of the page is the petition, and on the other side, he records its
answer. Of course, this is a petition we find ourselves praying on multiple
occasions throughout our own life and I am sure David did as well. Let us also
remember to pause and give praise (v. 1) and thanksgiving (v. 11) when He
answers them.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
.
In verse one, we have a reversal of order. Instead of
starting from reasons and moving to response, David begins with his response
and shares his reasons.
Response:
            I will
extoll you, O LORD (ESV)/ I will exalt you, O LORD (NIV)
Reasons:
            1. For you
have lifted me up out of the depths (NIV)
            2.  and did not let my
enemies gloat over me (NIV)
We could reverse the order, and it wouldn’t change the
underlying meaning of the verse.
            Because You
lifted me up out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me, I  will exalt you, O LORD
Experientially the reasons obviously came before the
response. However, I think that by starting out with his response first, David
was emphasizing not only the importance of praise but, more significantly, the
object of his adoration – the LORD.
Here we have what I am calling – a Praise Tree. David begins
to voice his petition as indicated by the words, “I cried to you.” This is the
seed that takes root in the fertile soil of testings and trials. This root
grows and gives strength and stability to the tree. It also feeds the tree as the
root branches out from its life-giving, sustaining, and healing taproot, who is
Jesus Christ, our Lord. This tree grows by the gracious husbandry of God and
blossoms in His bounteous blessings and is crowned with leaves of healing and
help for others. The pinnacle of this
Praise Tree is topped in praise, pointing heavenward towards the One who has
planted, watered, nurtured, and given it its growth.
Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with
the wicked
or stand in the way that
sinners take
or sit in the company of
mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law
of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law
day and night.
3 That person is like a tree
planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in
season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not
stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of
the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches
over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads
to destruction.
Psalm 1 (NIV 2011)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
.
22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
Rev 22:1-5 (NIV ‘84)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
.
6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in
him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you
were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
 Col 2:6-7 ESV
Worship in Witness:
Let praise arise in my heart
And from its depths
A joyful song
Fill my lungs with grateful breath
Let it flow through my body
Into my arms upraised
Reaching to heaven
Towards the one in whom I am amazed
Let it settle in my feet
So I may walk
Glory’s path
And from its light and truth never balk
Let my whole being exalt the Lord
My soul voicing
From deep within
With singing and shouting and rejoicing
– Amen
Worship
in Song:
Praise the Lord when it comes out easy
Praise the Lord on top of the world
Praise the Lord 'cause in every moment Jesus Christ is Lord
Even in the middle of the joys of life
There is always grace enough today to
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Won't you praise the Lord?
Praise the Lord with the world on your shoulders
Praise the Lord when it seems too hard
Praise the Lord 'cause in every moment Jesus Christ is Lord
Even in the middle of the long, dark night
There is always grace enough today to
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Won't you praise the Lord?
Praise the Lord if you can sing it at the top of your lungs
Praise the Lord like every moment is a song to be sung
Praise the Lord: though it might take blood, sweat, and
tears in your eyes
There is grace for today so praise the Lord
There is grace for today so praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Won't you praise the Lord?
There is grace for today so praise the Lord
