Worship: Who May Ascend by Maranatha Singers
Who may ascend to the hill of the LORD?
And who may stand
In His holy place?
Those who have clean hands and a pure heart;
May ascend to the hill,
May ascend to the hill,
May ascend to the hill of the LORD.
Cleanse my hands and my heart, oh LORD.
Come and purify me in Your love.
Fill my life with Your righteousness,
So that I may ascend to Your hill.
Holy, holy,
Holy, holy,
Holy, holy,
My Lord, my God.
I come by faith,
Into Your holy place;
Where saints and seraphim,
Behold Your holy face.
And there in wonder and in awe,
I lift my voice in praise.

Witness:
I woke up with pain in my back on the left side. It was the kind that made it harder to breath because the pain was in the muscles surrounding my ribs. Later, my neck started hurting. As I type both are bothering me. Nevertheless, I am going to work. I can be in pain at work just as well as at home. Sometimes pain can cause us to stop worshiping and working for the Lord. We retreat and question God about why we are in such pain (I speak more of emotional pain than physical pain). I know why I am in physical pain. I tried to lift a trash can at work that had about 10 inches of water in the bottom (It was raining heavily all day and even had been emptied once in the afternoon). It proved to be so heavy it took several attempts to lift it out of the metal cage that surrounded it. I felt nothing that day or the next, but today I woke up in pain. Sometimes it takes several days to manifest these kinds of injuries. The same can be said of emotional injuries. You may have to do some emotionally heavy lifting one day. When the day is done, you don’t feel any worse for wear, but in a day or two, you are wondering why you feel down and emotionally drained. In that case, the best thing to do is not retreat, but push on and praise the Lord. Surround yourself with songs of praise and worship. Meditate on His promises. As I write these line the song playing is saying, “we walk by faith, not by sight” quoting 2 Cor. 5:7.  How appropriate a verse in relation to what I am talking about.
WORD:
|
Ps 24:1-6
24 The earth is the LORD 's, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2 for he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the waters
.
3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false.
5 He will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God his Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, O God of Jacob.b

And who shall stand in his holy place?
4  He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

Time is fleeting. The grandkids were over here a little longer than usual so I got a late start. Have to go to work. I found Gill’s comments insightful and will share them with you for today’s portion on the WORD:
“He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart,.... Though "clean hands" are mentioned first, as being more obvious to view, and better known, and more subject to the cognizance and observation of others; yet a "pure heart" is first in being and in order; from whence cleanness of hands, when right and truth springs: no man has a pure heart naturally and of himself: the heart is desperately wicked; the imagination of the thoughts of it is evil continually; the mind and conscience are defiled with sin; nor can any man make his heart clean, or say he is pure from sin; but it is God that creates a clean heart, and renews a right spirit within men, and purifies the heart by faith, which is led to the blood of sprinkling, which purges the conscience, and cleanseth it from all sin; and from this purity of heart flows purity of life and conversation, signified by "clean hands"; the hand being the instrument of action, holy actions, or good works, performed from a principle of grace, are meant; the phrase is expressive of a holy, harmless, and innocent conversation, washing the hands being used to denote innocence, Matthew 27:24; not a conversation entirely free from sin, nor by which a man is justified before God; for though he wash his hands ever so clean, they will not be pure in his sight, and will need washing in the blood of the Lamb; but it denotes a conversation upright in general, and declares a man righteous in the sight of men, and distinguishes him from one of a dissolute life, whose hands are full of blood, and defiled with sin”
